About
Katy J. Schroeder is an author, educator, and freelance speaker
She holds a master’s degree in communication from Indiana State University, and a PhD in Creative Writing (with a focus on middle grade/young adult fiction) from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. While she has more than two decades of experience as college faculty, her greatest joy is the messy and magical process of writing. She is passionate about diverse, empathetic, and thought-provoking kidlit, and believes all readers deserve to see themselves in stories.
When she isn’t reading, writing, or endlessly researching (sometimes just for fun), she’s spending time with her fiercely supportive Midwest family (ope!) and menagerie of pets, which will always include a black cat.
